Every family will find the right method of post adoption contact that works for them. Make sure to discuss the best method for continued contact with the biological parents. When researching the online platform options, take into account what type of phone and computer operating system the biological parent can access. Here are some options for your family.

  • Adopt Connect – Adoption-specific online platform where adoptive parents can upload photos, videos and updates, and birthparents can login to view the updates.  The platform has a calendar feature with reminders and notifications for both parties. Option for yearly or lifetime fees.

  • Child Connect – Adoption-specific online platform where adoptive parents can upload photos, videos and updates, and birthparents can login to view the updates.  Allows families and agencies or attorneys to track when updates are due. Option for printing photos and updates through Lifebooks. Option for five year plan or eighteen year plan.

  • TinyBeans – Online Journal where you can chronicle family photos and moments, and add the birthparents and other family members to view and interact with the child’s journal. Free for basic with premium service options.

  • Shutterfly – Online private photo sharing albums that allows you to share photos, updates, videos, calendars, and more.  Free.

  • Life Cake – Online private photo sharing albums that allows you to share photos and updates, and invite others to view, comment, and follow. Sends reminders if you have not posted in some time.  Free for basic and a cost for premium service options.

  • Moment Garden – Online private photo sharing albums that allows you to share photos and updates, and organizes the photos and updates into a garden-like scrapbook. Option for printing.  Free for basic and a cost for premium service options.

  • Notabli – Online private photo sharing albums that allows you to share photos, videos, sound clips, and updates. Automatically organized to search by child, date, or location.  Option for automatic book printing. Free through community funding and a cost for premium service options.

  • Google Account – Create an gmail account specific for communication with the biological parents and submit updates by email, use Google Drive to upload photos and updates, and maintain a Google Voice phone line.

Don’t feel comfortable using an online platform or the biological parents prefer hard copies? Consider mailing updates directly to the biological parents and using your agency’s or attorney’s office return address. Make sure to notify your agency or attorney if you plan to use their return address.
